Black people calling out Stella Mccartney for ankara designs.

Black twitter is calling Stella McCartney out for using ankara print and design, claiming ‘appropriation’.

Some claim she’s ripping off while the Africans who own it aren’t making anything.

But lets check this out:
1. The Ankara print is Dutch/ Indonesian before African
2. Is it Stella that made the African seamstresses not to make money from it? It’s call branding, PR and marketing for a reason .
3. African designers have been using Western designs and African people have been wearing it too like forever.

What is the big deal here? Are Blacks really serious? Must everything become so much an issue?

What is stopping Blacks from making money from their work, and why don’t Black spend their money within their own communities then jump on others when they do?

Share your thoughts. What did Stella Mccartney do wrong?

Away from the argument of ownership of design. Would you cash out for these designs though?

What are you thoughts on all of this?

I think the real issue is access to market, do black designers have the same access to market and publicity as white designers. lots of black people have been designing using African design but have made little headway now a white designer has done the same and all of a sudden the same themes are becoming main stream. Surely something is skewed here!!!
